A Supreme Court Lawyer who was allegedly manhandled by his fellowmen on July 2 seeks security of his life and threats from attackers.
Advocate Rabindra Ghosh a human rights activist, alleged that three lawyers roughed him up and snatched his video camera while he was filming a Supreme Court Bar Association meeting that ended up in predicament on July 1.
He said attackers also took away a film that contained some reports of human rights violation, including the death of an opposition party worker who drowned in the pond near Dhaka after chased by police.
Ghosh, the country coordinator of US based Human Rights Congress for Bangladesh Minorities (HRCBM), said he has filed a GD (General Diary) with Ramna police station and appealed to the Bar Association for taking step to have his camera and film back.
"But nothing worked, I have not yet got my things back nor the attackers stopped threatening me" Ghosh said.
Meanwhile, Amnesty International has expressed concern for Ghosh's safety and urged the government to protect him from further threats and attacks.
The UK based organization appealed to the Prime Minister to ensure a full, impartial and authoritative investigation into July 1attack on Rabindra Ghosh and bring attackers to justice regardless of their party affiliation or political position.
Similar appeals have also been to Home Minister, the Deputy Minister for Home Affairs and Inspector General of Police.
Earlier HRCBM condemned the reported attack on Rabindra Ghosh and urged the Prime Minister to instruct law enforcers to provide immediate protection to him and return his camera and documents.
