Surrender of Shahjahan-The Main Criminal Involved in Planning the Murder of Principal Muhuri

The Vorer Kajog, 7 January 2003. Chittagong Office: Mohammad Shahjahan, the Nazirhut College cashier, known to be the main criminal involved in planning the heinous murder of Principal Gopal Krishna Muhuri which stirred the whole nation, surrendered to the court on Monday, 6 January 2003.
It should be noted that terrorists nurtured by Jamaat Shibir (the student front of Jamaat-E-Islami Party) and Chhatradal (the student front of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, BNP) shot Mr. Muhuri in the head to death in the Jamalkhana Area the city of Chittagong early in the morning on 16 November 2001. The hearing on this sensational murder case started on 2 January 2003 in the Chittagong Divisional Speedy Tribunal Court after a charge sheet had been issued on 14 November 2002 against the 12 accused for the murder. The court announced 8 January 2003 as the date for starting the cross-examination of witnesses.
It was informed that Md. Shahjahan, the fugitive criminal and cashier of Nazirhat College, suddenly appeared yesterday morning at the Chittagong Divisional Speedy Tribunal Court at the Liberty Tower Area. And surrendered himself to Justice Hasan Imam of the Tribunal. The court ordered the criminal Md. Shahjahan to be sent to jail after completion of the hearing for bail. Public Prosecutor Mr. Kamrul Islam Sajjad was the government prosecutor of this murder case.
Among the twelve accused for this murder, Professor Idris Miah Chowdhury, Professor Jahurul Hauqe, and ProfessorTofazzal Ahmed are on bail after being arrested earlier.
Although Jamaat Shibir cadre Md. Nasir alias Shibir Nasir who order for the murder, Toslimuddin Montu (a member of the killing squad of Chhatradal, BNP student front), Saiful Islam alias Choto Saiful, Alamgir Nasir alias Baittya Alamgir and Md. Shahjahan, the cashier who surrendered yesterday, are in presently jail, Jamaat Shibir cadre Habib Khan, Md. Nasir alias Gittu Nasir, and Md. Azam Mohiuddin alias Mairuddin are still in hiding.
